About this award

Carleton University offers a set of entrance scholarships for students admitted to fall 2027 entry. The main renewable awards are automatic: if your admission average is 85% or better, you are considered at the time of admission with no separate scholarship application. Carleton also lists named scholarships with their own deadlines and application requirements, ranging from a $1,000 Mini-Courses Program Award to a $7,500 first-year David Muir Entrance Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The renewable entrance scholarships pay $1,000 per year (85 to 89.9% average), $2,000 per year (90 to 94.9%), or $3,000 per year (95 to 100%), for a maximum of $4,000, $8,000, or $12,000 over four years. The BScN version pays over three years, including summer semester components. The President's Welcome Award for International Students adds $2,000 to $5,000 in first year, and the Kroeger National Scholarships add $2,000 for specific programs. Your scholarship value is fixed by the admission average calculated from the grades your high school submitted with your application. Carleton does not reassess the offer once final high school grades are in.

Who qualifies

You must be entering Carleton University for the first time from high school or CEGEP, with no previous attendance at a college or university. Entry must be in the fall. Your admission average must be 85% or better, calculated from the grades your high school submits in support of your application. Your complete admission application and all required grades must reach Carleton's Admissions Services by June 15. If you are an international high school student, you must also meet the program's language requirements. The BScN program follows the same 85% threshold and first-time-entry rules. Named scholarships carry their own additional criteria: the Buss Family Scholarship requires a parent who is a Carleton alumnus; the David Muir Scholarship is for first-year Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students with a 90%+ average; the Prestige Scholarship is for students entering directly from high school or CEGEP with 90%+; the Pamela and Richard Joho Scholarship is for Canadian citizens or permanent residents entering specific humanities programs; the Ronald and Deanna Biggs Scholarship is for first-year full-time engineering students; and the ICP Award is for graduates or current enrollees of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board ICP Program with an 85%+ average.
