About this award

Ontario Tech University offers scholarships based on academic achievement and personal excellence. Some are applied automatically to your student account at the start of the fall semester before the tuition deadline. The major entrance scholarships require an application. Automatic entrance awards pay $4,000 for 95 per cent or higher, $2,000 for 90 to 94.9 per cent, and $1,000 for 85 to 89.9 per cent, based on your best six 4U/4M courses or equivalent. In-course scholarships pay $1,500 if your combined GPA from the previous fall and winter semesters is 4.0 or greater, or $1,000 if it is 3.7 to 3.99. The Chancellor's, President's, and Founder's entrance scholarships are for applicants with a minimum 85 per cent average, exceptional leadership, and community involvement. They pay $36,000, $30,000 each, or $24,000 each over four years, and one application is considered for all three. The FIRST Robotics Canada Scholarship, worth $12,000 over four years, is closed for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Who qualifies

You may qualify for automatic entrance scholarships if you attend the university from secondary school within 18 months of graduation and have not previously attended a post-secondary institution. Your grade calculation uses your best six 4U/4M courses or equivalent, not summer school taken immediately before the September term or upgrading marks. You must be enrolled in a minimum 80 per cent course load per term and keep good academic standing. For the major entrance scholarships, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident studying full-time at a Canadian secondary school, have a minimum 85 per cent average, and show exceptional leadership and community involvement. You may not hold more than one university scholarship at the same time. For in-course scholarships, you must have been registered in at least an 80 per cent course load in your previous fall and winter semesters, have a combined GPA of 3.7 or greater from those semesters, and be returning to full-time fall study with at least an 80 per cent course load. They are available for up to three years of your first undergraduate degree. For the Education Exchange Scholarship, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person, have financial need, be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and participate in a faculty-approved international study program. If you have a disability that affects your course load, the Admissions and Scholarship Committee will review your application if you meet all other criteria.
