Get approximately $1,000 for your final year of an undergraduate degree or diploma — apply by May 30, 2026.
You can receive one of three or more awards valued at approximately $1,000 each. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you have a strong history of volunteering with non-profits and taking on leadership roles to improve your community. You must apply by May 30, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Calgary Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to tuition. Confirm with Calgary Foundation if this happens as a single payment or in installments so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Calgary Foundation whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
Read the official award page end-to-end. Confirm you meet every requirement before you start.
Give your referees at least two weeks' notice and share your résumé.
Double-check every field, save a copy, and submit at least 24 hours early.
The biggest mistake is simply listing your volunteer hours.
Winners instead describe the specific impact they had and the responsibilities they held.
Detail exactly how your leadership improved the organization.
Many students provide a generic letter.
Winners secure a reference who can give concrete examples of their reliability and initiative in a community setting.
Focus your application on the intersection of leadership and service.
