About this award

NPower Canada's cybersecurity track is a tuition-free training program that prepares you for entry-level security operations roles — SOC analyst, security engineer support, junior incident-response — in roughly 15 weeks. NPower Canada is a national charity founded in 2014 in Ontario specifically to launch underserved youth and adults into digital careers, and as of 2024 more than 3,400 graduates have come through its programs. It runs alongside the better-known Junior IT Analyst program but targets the cybersecurity domain. Funding flows from Upskill Canada, the federal Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program, plus partners like the Future Skills Centre. That public funding is why the program is genuinely free — no fees to apply, no fees during training, no fees for the certification voucher. Across NPower Canada's cybersecurity-track cohorts, 82% of participants complete the program and 82% of graduates secure employment or move into further education within 12 months, with an average starting salary near $39,645 for those placed. The program is a one-shot intensive — you are not enrolled in something renewable, you finish the cohort and move into placement support. To qualify you must be legally able to work full-time in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or open work permit holder), have a valid Social Insurance Number, and not already hold the certification the cohort targets. Cohorts run year-round in Ontario, Alberta, BC, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia. Who qualifies
