Get up to $10,000 for your first year of a full-time degree or diploma program — apply by June 30, 2026.
You can receive one of up to three awards valued at $8,500 for diploma programs or $10,000 for degree programs. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a youth leader who has dedicated your time to helping others through a Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink participating charity. You must apply by June 30, 2026. When you apply, ask Calgary Foundation how and when you will hear back — whether it is through email, a portal, or a phone call. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Calgary Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your tuition. Confirm with Calgary Foundation during your application if there are any specific steps you need to take to ensure the funds reach your school. Renewal conditions aren't listed — since this is given annually to new students, confirm with Calgary Foundation whether it is a one-time award or if you can apply for it again in future years.
Read the official award page end-to-end. Confirm you meet every requirement before you start.
Order through your school registrar: allow 1–2 weeks.
Give your referees at least two weeks' notice and share your résumé.
Check the official source for the current deadline: save a copy and submit at least 24 hours early.
The biggest mistake is listing generic volunteer hours.
Winners instead highlight their specific impact at a Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink participating charity.
Get a detailed letter from the charity representative that proves your leadership and generosity.
Many students provide a generic teacher reference.
Winners secure a strong recommendation from a leader at the participating charity who can vouch for your character and integrity.
Focus your application on the three specific traits the founder lived by: leadership, integrity, and generosity.
