Get between $8,500 and $10,000 for your first year of post-secondary study if you volunteer with a Rogers Birdies for Kids charity — apply by June 30, 2026.
You can receive either $8,500 for a diploma program or $10,000 for a degree program. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a young leader who spends your time volunteering and showing generosity through a registered charity. You must apply by June 30, 2026. The provider does not post when you will be notified of the result — ask Calgary Foundation how and when you will hear back. Up to three awards are given annually to youth who show leadership and integrity. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Calgary Foundation how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your tuition. Confirm with Calgary Foundation if there are any specific steps you need to take to ensure the funds reach your school account. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Calgary Foundation whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
Read the official award page end-to-end. Confirm you meet every requirement before you start.
Order through your school registrar: allow 1–2 weeks.
Give your referees at least two weeks' notice and share your résumé.
Double-check every field, save a copy, and submit at least 24 hours early.
The biggest mistake is listing a dozen random clubs you joined.
Winners instead focus deeply on their work with a Rogers Birdies for Kids charity.
Describe exactly how your actions helped others and showed leadership.
The biggest mistake is providing a generic teacher reference.
Winners provide a strong letter from a representative of the specific charity where they volunteered.
Ensure your referee mentions your integrity and generosity specifically.
