Who qualifies

You qualify if you have Algonquin heritage and are from one of the 10 Algonquin communities represented by the AOO (Algonquins of Ontario): Antoine; Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation; Bonnechere; Greater Golden Lake; Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini (Bancroft); Mattawa/North Bay; Ottawa; Shabot Obaadjiwan (Sharbot Lake); Snimikobi (Ardoch); or Whitney and Area. You must be attending a college, university, technical college, or an apprenticeship program in Canada. This award is open to any program of study and any level of study. One important check from our review (August 2026): this award runs through Indspire's Building Brighter Futures portal, and the program policy Indspire applies from November 2, 2025 requires a registration document - a Status card, a membership card from an Indian Act band that controls its own list, or a modern-treaty enrolment card. AOO enrolment on its own may not pass Indspire's verification under that policy. Confirm your documentation with Indspire (education@indspire.ca) before applying.
