New Brunswick's combined federal-provincial student aid program — single integrated application assesses for both federal Canada Student Loans/Grants and NB provincial portion. Companion programs include the Golden Jubilee Scholarship, TESS (disability support), Apprenticeship Incentives, and an Emergency Bridging Fund.
New Brunswick Student Financial Services administers the province's student aid program in coordination with the federal Canada Student Financial Assistance Program. Unlike Quebec (opted out of federal aid), New Brunswick participates fully — so a single online application assesses you for BOTH federal and provincial aid in one step. The package combines repayable loans with non-repayable grants and bursaries, sized to your assessed financial need. Beyond the integrated loans-and-grants application, NB Student Financial Services administers several companion programs that students should know exist: (a) the Golden Jubilee Scholarship for high-achieving NB undergraduate students, (b) Training and Employment Support for Persons with Disability (TESS) — supplementary aid for post-secondary students with documented disabilities, (c) Apprenticeship Incentives — provincial top-up programs for registered apprentices in NB-recognized trades (separate from the federal Apprenticeship Incentive/Completion Grants which closed March 2025), and (d) an Emergency Bridging Fund for students facing unexpected costs mid-term. Application is rolling throughout the program year (August 1 – July 31); apply 6+ weeks before classes start so funds arrive before tuition is due.
Read the official award page end-to-end. Confirm you meet every requirement before you start.
Check the official source for the current deadline: save a copy and submit at least 24 hours early.
Apply 6+ weeks before classes start through the integrated NB Student Financial Services online portal — the federal and provincial assessments run in parallel.
The Golden Jubilee Scholarship is a separate merit-based award; if you're a high-achieving NB student, look for its dedicated application page on gnb.ca.
The TESS program is critical for students with disabilities — Quebec students with disabilities use AFE Allocation pour besoins particuliers; NB students with disabilities use TESS.
Don't assume federal disability grants apply if you're an NB resident — check the integration first.
The Emergency Bridging Fund is mid-term and need-based; if you face an unexpected cost during the term, contact your institution's financial aid office to start the bridging-fund application.
