DISCONTINUED 2025-03-31. The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) was a one-time $2,000 taxable federal grant for registered apprentices who completed their training and obtained Red Seal journeyperson certification. Closed alongside AIG; current trades support is the Canada Apprentice Loan + EI during training.
The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) was a Government of Canada one-time taxable cash grant of $2,000 paid to registered apprentices who completed an apprenticeship program in a designated Red Seal trade and obtained their journeyperson certification. Like the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG), the ACG closed on March 31, 2025 — applications and supporting documents are no longer accepted. The federal apprenticeship support landscape post-closure relies on the Canada Apprentice Loan (interest-free during training, up to $4,000 per training period, cumulative up to $20,000), Employment Insurance benefits during technical training periods, and project funding to apprenticeship organizations under the Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy. The ACG was specifically a completion incentive — paid AFTER you finished and got certified, in contrast to the AIG which was paid mid-apprenticeship. With both closed, the federal in-training Canada Apprentice Loan is now the primary apprenticeship support outside Quebec; Quebec apprentices use AFE Programme de prêts et bourses. This entry is preserved for historical search context — students Googling 'Apprenticeship Completion Grant' or 'ACG apprenticeship' deserve a page that explains the program closed and points them to current alternatives.

Double-check every field, save a copy, and submit at least 24 hours early.
If you completed your apprenticeship between January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2024, your application deadline was 12 months from your completion date.
If you completed on or after March 31, 2024, your application had to be in by March 31, 2025 — even if your supporting documents weren't yet ready.
The supporting-document deadline is 12 months from the application deadline, but no later than March 31, 2026.

New apprentices completing in 2025 or later: apply for the Canada Apprentice Loan during training instead — the cumulative $20K interest-free loan is more valuable than the $2K one-time ACG ever was, and you don't have to wait until completion.
Quebec apprentices: use AFE.
